Enjoyed my onstage chat with Krister Henriksson at the showing Arrow Films arranged in Leicester Square for the final Wallander, The Troubled Man. Krister was tired, but rallied in front of an adoring audience. He was always both entertaining and insightful: on the apparent similarities between Britain and Sweden (only skin deep), for instance, on not being intimidated by the fearsome Ingmar Bergman, and (on playing both Arthur Miller’s Willy Loman and Wallander); ‘Show me a middle-aged man who isn’t disappointed!’ He also said — and succeeded in sounding modest — that the autobiography he’s writing will have to contain some revelations, or it may be a bit dull; he’s only enjoyed success throughout his career from Peer Gynt onwards… ‘Who wants to read about just success?’
